Bonita Forsyth
Eight years ago Bonita Forsyth took a leave from her 20 year teaching career to devote more time to her wildlife art and discovered a way to combine both talents into one very satisfying new career venture, THE HUCKLEBERRY HOLLOW CHILDREN'S BOOK SERIES. Living on a quiet lake in the interior of British Columbia, Bonita paints and writes from her home studio. She is both author and illustrator for the children's picture books titled “Snowboarding Bunny”, “Huckleberry Tea”, “Beautiful Noise”, “Huckleberry Hollow Alphabet”, “Snowboarding Bunny's Mountain Adventure” and the newly released “Finn Fawn”. In addition to painting for exhibition and writing and illustrating children's books, Bonita spends much of her time traveling around B.C. giving presentations and workshops in schools and libraries. She hosts workshops for both children and adult audiences sharing original illustrations, writing strategies, illustrating techniques and presenting a “work in progress” to show what is involved in preparing a book for publishing.
This Fall, Bonita has a new release titled “Finn Fawn”. This is a heartfelt rhyming story about a fawn who becomes separated from his mother and discovers a lost and lonely kitten in a secluded mountain meadow. The book is ablaze with the vibrant colours of a Canadian Autumn. Hidden amidst the colourful leaves, Bonita has hidden Nibbles the mouse and the mystical face of the good luck spirit.
Bonita is now completing her first Chapter Book for young readers. ICE DRAGON will tell the story of that mystical face that has been present in her last few picture books. ICE DRAGON also features the return of two favourite characters from “The Huckleberry Hollow Children's Picture Book Series”, Snowboarding Bunny and Jonathan.
